Contemporary Dance

The world of Contemporary Dance is vast, exciting and fun. From wonderful techniques developed by dancers and choreographers such as Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and José Limón to principals of movement such as Contact and Improvisation, there’s loads to be discovered.


Inspired by these pioneers, you will see real development in your dance and movement skills that progress from week to week.Class will begin with a thorough warm-up, including structured exercises to help you focus on the alignment of the body, help build stamina, and raise your fitness level. Sequences will be developed during the term to help your movement memory and ability to really DANCE!


Whether you have danced for years, or you’d like to try something new – this General Level class will cater for all abilities. Contemporary Dance at KaSo is not about rules or constraint. The key is to come with an open mind, with teamwork at your heart and a willingness to learn and have fun. As always, it’s not about being the best, but doing YOUR best and celebrating just that. 

You'll be dancing barefoot, and it's best to wear comfortable clothes for this relaxed class which can really help ease any stress or train you might be under. 

Our Adult Dance Classes are run as courses (5,6,7, or 8 weeks), payable upon registration and in advance.  Please note that you are welcome to drop in to class at the higher rate of £8 (classes are just £6 when paid in advance). New clients can try a class at any time for the online price of £6 and then enroll in the rest of the course.
