KATE has often been described as a pint-sized chatterbox. She is well known for telling a story via many MANY tangents - so strap in & concentrate if you ask her a question - she'll get back on track eventually! Kate is now raising a little chatterbox of her own - Jessica Paige - who is showing early signs of sharing mum's energy & mischievousness and aside from talking & teaching Kate has a passion for Argentine Tango, good food & travel - her best memories of which are with KaSo's own Sophie, her best friend of 20 odd years. But what happens on tour... jejeje
Kate’s experience in education informs KaSo’s teaching and learning ethos. She is responsible for ensuring that the studio is perpetually striving to deliver exceptional quality teaching.
Kate is a qualified secondary school Dance Teacher and previously Head of Department. Her passion for Dance and Theatre started aged 5 and she has studied a wide range of techniques to advanced level including Ballet, (ISTD and RAD syllabi) Tap, Jazz (ISTD) and Contemporary. She holds the Central YMCA Level 2 Certificate in ‘Exercise to Music’ Fitness Instruction, CYQ Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for the Independent Older Adult and her BuggyFit Licence.
She diversified at University and completed a degree in Drama and she has spent more than 8 years in secondary education, during which time she has turned around departments in inner city London Schools by improving A Level and GCSE results and revolutionising teaching practices.
SOPHIE is known for her love for meat (ideally on a bone - her mum gave her chicken bones to knaw on as a babe when she was teething). Funnily enough, she and her brother were once the faces of the NSPCC!
Sophie’s dance studies started age 3, embracing Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Classical Greek. She trained intensively with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and in schools in both London and Buckinghamshire. Sophie achieved a first class honours degree in Dance Studies from the University of Surrey, Roehampton and also holds the Central YMCA Level 2 Certificate in ‘Exercise to Music’ Fitness Instruction.
A keen choreographer, she loves a cheeky bit of Musical Theatre and contemporary, and has enjoyed tackling an array of projects - from choreographing full scale musicals in 10 days with 250 young people, to devising intimate pieces for cabaret troupes at music and theatre festivals.
In her twenties, Sophie developed her professional theatre experience working for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group, managing theatres in the West End, including the New London Theatre on Drury Lane and the Apollo and Lyric Theatres, Shaftesbury Avenue. Her passion is for all things customer service when it comes to KaSo and helping to keep people happy and healthy is top of her list.
MARGARITA started ballet aged 7 and in her first performance she was...a mouse! She studied professional ballet and contemporary performance and teaching in “N. KONTAXAKI” higher professional dance school, in Greece. In three years of intense studying and practice she took part in many performances, participated in international ballet competitions and got fourth place, learned Russian, Hungarian, and Polish character dances, Greek traditional dance, and followed seminars in Dalcroze rhythmic exercises, ballet for pre-primary children, Forsythe technique, Danish Ballet syllabus, and many others. She also has a degree in music theory and plays the piano!
She’s recently passed her MA at the university of Bedfordshire, on Choreography and Dance performance.
Margarita LOVES cake, reading, and when she's not dancing, relaxing. She daydreams most of the day, until someone stops her and she gets hyper at random, especially when thinking of cake...
GAVIN - better known as Gav, Gavlar or The Hairy Presenter, is the main man for KST BLAST.
A mad rugby fan and player with Chinnor Rugby Club, Gavin is also a qualified Exercise to Music Intructor - we all hold our breath on match days in the hope he doesn't get too smashed up and can still take class!
While Gav loves sports from doing Triathlons to frisbee and golf, he also loves to dance and takes Tap classes whenever he can. Did you know, Gav once appeared in a Robbie Williams music video? Blink and you'll miss him! Something Beautiful
NIKKI started dancing at the ripe old age of 11 and followed the BATD syllabus which has inspired us to take it on in KaSo. She started assisting her teachers very quickly afterwards and started looking after classes herself at just 15!
Her first love has always been tap dancing, but when it comes to Nikki, you'll find her trying anything from Piloga to Fight Club to Irish Dancing to Majorettes. She thinks you're never too old to try something new, and we agree. Nikki started with KaSo initially as a client, she fell in love with KaSoTonic and the rest is history.
Did you know, Nikki hates cotton wool and can only touch it with wet hands!!!
SARAH has always loved to dance and as a small child begged her parents to let her do classes. At the age of 7 they gave in, sent her to a local school and she never looked back!
Sarah trained professionally in musical theatre and ballet at Central School of Dance and Drama in Essex, gaining teaching qualifications in tap and modern with the ISTD and also attended ISTD headquarters to gain her ballet teaching qualification.
Sarah has worked in TV, film and cheerleading, chss performed with Sole Rebel Tap, but especially enjoys teaching. When she was given a failing dance school in Essex at the age of 19 she jumped at the challenge.
Sarah established her own dance school in Oxford - Expression School of Ballet and Theatre Arts - teaching recreational and pre-professional students, babies up to adults. Many of Sarah’s students went on to train professionally at some of the top colleges in the UK and are enjoying careers in the West End, Ballet Companies, Cruise Ships and Film as well as teaching all over the world!
Due to illness during pregnancy and beyond, Sarah was no longer able to run a large dance school, so began researching child development and wrote her own active play, dance and drama curriculum for babies and toddlers called Jumping Jelly Beans. She loves working with little ones and providing a supportive atmosphere for the parents.
Alongside teaching, Sarah loves to learn and can be found browsing the lists of dance teaching CPD courses like a child in a sweet shop. She has just completed her qualification to teach Progressing Ballet Technique and is now starting a level 4 qualification in Sports Nutrition.
Sarah has many ambitions for the future and hopes to find a career path where she is able to guide young dance students towards a healthier way of training and looking after their physical and mental health.
